Gamelan makeovers

Gamelan is traditional ensemble music of Java and Bali in Indonesia, made up predominantly of percussive instruments. The most common instruments are metallophones played by mallets as well as a set of hand played drums called kendhang which register the beat. Other instruments include xylophones, bamboo flutes, bowed instrument called rebab, and even vocalists called sindhen.[1] Although the popularity of gamelan has declined since the introduction of pop music, gamelan is still commonly played in formal occasions and in many traditional Indonesian ceremonies. For most Indonesians, gamelan is an integral part of Indonesian culture{wikipedia}.

can colours change the style?

My costumer ask me to makeover three pcs of Chinesse consol table. He wants the after look old and the style doesn't look too oriental. What I have to do? First, I will not use red and gold colour. Because, for me , red plus gold equal oriental. I decided to use purple, light green and light orange. I wanted to paint them just plain colour without combination before, It's easier and I think will change the style. Look simplier and doesn't look too oriental. After I see the result, I think It worked, It doesn't look too oriental, but I don't like it. So I decided to put some combinations. And this is the result.
Still look oriental, but my costumer like them very much.
